Do you need an FDNY Project Authorization Letter?

Hi ACE professional,

At our Burnham NYC office, we've been tracking the evolution of the new FDNY Project Authorization requirements. Our team has added it to our basic services for every project and we are ready to get it done for you.

Prior to 2021, the fire department would grant approval and stamp your plans. The NYC Department of Buildings would handle the permitting process and the FDNY would accept an application and issue a Letter of Acceptance.

However, in 2021, new processes went into effect where the FDNY now requires official authorization for any project needing requests for Auxiliary Radio Communication Systems and Fire Alarm Applications. Enforcement of this new requirement went into full swing at the end of 2022.

We are finding that fire alarm vendors may still not be consistently including this as part of their scope of work. If you have a fire alarm inspection and you do not have this letter, your project will be delayed until it is issued. And that will burn you.
