Studio Gang’s Vista Tower Continues to Rise on Chicago’s Lakefront:

Studio Gang’s Vista Tower (formerly Wanda Vista) surpassed a major construction milestone this summer. As of June, the supertall’s construction team completed the concrete slab for the 50th floor out of the tower’s planned 101 levels. When completed, Vista Tower will be Chicago’s third tallest building at 1,186 feet and follows Studio Gang's Aqua as the firm continues to make its mark on Chicago's skyline. 



Esperanza Health’s New Brighton Park Location Unites Needed Services with New Design

In September 2017, the Noble Network Mansueto High School opened its doors in the Southwest Side Chicago neighborhood of Brighton Park. The school is the area’s first Noble charter school and is the anchor for a new development adjacent to the campus that will house community non-profits as well as the Esperanza Health Center. Burnham is proud of have assisted with permitting for Mansueto High School, as well as be a part of the Esperanza Health project team.

Merchandise Mart Illumination to be Largest Art Project in the US

Last February, the City of Chicago designated 2017 the Year of Public Art (YOPA) and promoted a number of initiatives to bring new art throughout the city, including the second run of the Chicago Architecture Biennial from September 2017 to January 2018. As part of YOPA, the City announced a plan to illuminate the 25 story facade of the historic Merchandise Mart building. “Art on theMART” will be the largest permanent digital display in the United States, part of a growing list of cities utilizing digital art as part of public art initiatives. Burnham Nationwide is proud to be a part of this groundbreaking art initiative. 



Mansueto High School Construction Brings Local Options to Brighton Park

In September, the new Noble Network Mansueto High School building in Chicago’s Southwest Side neighborhood of Brighton Park welcomed its first class of freshman and sophomore students. As the area’s first Noble charter school, the new construction will anchor a future development that will serve as a home for multiple nonprofits and provides further access to educational choice for families in the surrounding neighborhoods. Burnham Nationwide’s experience with Institutional buildings in the City of Chicago allowed us to assist the design and construction teams with quicker permits and more accurate submittals.



Nationwide Experience Drives Solutions During Pep Boys Multi-Site Expansion

San Jose Debuts New Digital Processing System for Permit Submittals

Vista Tower Cleared to Rise to Supertall Status

Chicago’s third tallest building, Vista Tower, obtained the permit for the entirety of the build-out process for floors one through 95 last month. Though construction on the tower - also known as Wanda Vista - began last September, issuance of this permit on May 12th, 2017 cleared the remainder of the building for construction at 363 E. Wacker Drive up to its ultimate height of 1,186 feet. Burnham Nationwide is proud to assist with the permit expeditingprocess and contribute to constructing Chicago’s newest supertall along the Chicago River. 



Avoiding Costly Delays with a Multi-Unit Residential Building Code Analysis

Burnham recently completed a code review of preliminary drawings for a new multi-unit residential building in California. Our code consultants prefer to be involved at this early stage of the construction design process. An initial assessment allows us to suggest modifications and solutions to avoid building department requests for corrections that can result in project delays. The review helped the design team amend their plans, a four-story building with multiple roof decks and a large parking garage, to meet code requirements.



ConvergenceLA Installation Celebrates Past & Future of Los Angeles

Metropolis LA, developed by Greenland USA, is a much-anticipated downtown Los Angeles mixed use property consisting of residences, retail, and a hotel. Though the second phase is still under construction, Phase I (one residential tower and the Hotel Indigo) has been completed and on Thursday, March 2nd, Metropolis activated its 1,400 sqft LED video display installation titled ConvergenceLA - the first of its kind in Los Angeles.
